Working principle and advantages of double roller press granulator

2025/07/19

The double roller press granulator is an efficient equipment for fertilizer granulation production line and has become the core equipment for improving production efficiency. It combines simple working principles with multiple practical advantages, providing efficient solutions for granulation of various materials.

The working process of the double roller press granulator is very scientific. The pretreated materials (such as evenly mixed organic fertilizer raw materials or compound fertilizer semi-finished products) enter the equipment through the feed port and are pushed at a uniform speed between two rollers rotating in opposite directions by the spiral feeding device. The surface of the roller is distributed with regularly arranged hemispherical or cylindrical pits. When the two rollers fit together, the pits form a closed mold cavity. The material is pressed into the cavity under the action of the extrusion force, and is formed by the adsorption force and cohesion between its own molecules to form particles matching the shape of the cavity. The formed particles are crushed and screened to obtain finished products with uniform particle size. The whole process does not require the addition of water or binder, which eliminates the drying process of traditional granulation from the root.
The advantages of this equipment are particularly prominent in actual production. The granulation rate is high, far exceeding that of traditional disc granulators, which greatly reduces material waste. It has a wide range of applications, whether it is an organic fertilizer production line of livestock and poultry manure with a specific moisture content, a NPK compound fertilizer production line, or even industrial raw materials such as slag and coal powder, it can be used for granulation.
It performs even better in terms of energy consumption. Compared with traditional granulation lines, energy consumption is greatly reduced due to the elimination of the drying process. Taking a production line with a conventional processing volume as an example, a large amount of electricity bills can be saved every year. The equipment has a compact structure and occupies only a part of the area of a disc granulator with the same capacity. In addition, key components such as rollers and bearings adopt a modular design. Daily maintenance only requires the replacement of wearing parts, and downtime is greatly shortened.
Choosing a double roller press granulator can not only reduce production costs, but also ensure product quality. It is an ideal choice for improving the quality and efficiency of modern fertilizer production.
